Dear International Student
As the summer comes to a close the days are noticeably shorter and the harvest is almost finished in some cases. This is the ideal time for a Canadian style campfire supper with corn, baked potatoes and Yams, hot dogs cooked on a stick over the fire, and then finish the meal with roasted marshmallows.
We will finish the day with singing around the fire. There will be some ‘Christian songs’ For those of you who are newcomers to Canada this will be a good introduction to some of our Canadian Cultural ways.
Come and bring your friends Saturday the 11th of September from 2:30 to 8:00PM
Cost for the day is 5.00$
Pickup will be at the University of Ottawa in the Lower level of the University Centre by the Alumni Auditorium at 2:30 PM
Or
At Carleton university inside the front door of the Minto Building at 2:30 PM
Please be on time. We do not want to leave anyone behind but we cannot hold everyone up for a few late comers.
You will need to register with Bev at FAW@primus.ca if you plan to come. If possible register before Friday so we can plan for food and transportation.
This event is sponsored by ‘Friends Around the World’ which is a Christian club at Carleton university and Ottawa University. We are a part of the national organization called ‘International Students Ministry Canada’
Our desire is to offer friendship to International students of all nationalities and Faiths.
We offer you an afternoon of friendship, food and fun.

Past events
Depite the threat of possible thunder and lightening, few available helpers, and other complications that almost resulted in postponing the canoeing event for August the 14th, we had a good group come to Moonies Bay in Ottawa for a picnic, swimming, frisbee, volleyball and canoeing.

The RCMP Musical Ride
Saturday, June 26th was a memorable day as we visited the grounds of the RCMP training centre in Ottawa for a picnic supper, some group games and then ended the day with the ‘Sunset Ceremonies’ of the famous Canadian RCMP Musical Ride. It was a unique experience of Canadian culture for those International Students who will be a short time in Canada. All seemed to enjoy the day.

BBQ and Volleyball June 5th
Despite the forecast of thunderstorms for the 5th of June, the rain held off in Hog’s Back Park where we had our BBQ and games, for which we were very thankful. Allseemed to enjoy their time together.

The Scavenger Hunt -Saturday May the 1st
The rain did not dampen the spirits of those who came to the Historical Scavenger Hunt on Parliamnt Hill. Teams of students were sent out to find out Historical information about Canada and the nations capital. It was a fun way to learn Canadian history, and many of our Canadian helpers also learned things they did not know before. We ended the day with indoor games, an international buffet supper and ice cream sundaes.

Easter celebration
Though Saturday April tthe 3rd was a beautiful day to be out of doors, we had a good number of students who came to our indoor games, and talent show. It included learning about the traditions and the real meaning of this very special holiday season.
